🎯 Goal: Score as many points possible by shifting rows up/down/left/right, and then selecting tiles to build 3, 4 or 5-letter words. The game ends when no Scootches, Letters, or Words are possible.
✅ Submit: Hit the Submit Word button to score the word you've created (if an allowable word). Unselect tiles by clicking on them again, or use the Clear button to unselect all tiles at once.
🔍 Words: Scootch automatically finds words for you and creates a green outline on that tile. If a tile can be used in two or more words -- in any direction -- the green line becomes bold. This allows for finding playable words easily, while still allowing for shifting tiles and building the words you want.
⭐ Tip: Less common letters are worth more, so try to work them into your words to increase your score!
Every game starts with a Score of 0 (zero), 70 Scootches (moves), and 54 Letters (tiles) remaining in the bag.
Click on the surrounding Arrows to Scootch (shift) that row or column in that direction -- up or down, left or right.
Every move will decrement your Scootches by one.
Scootch reviews the board for playable words after every move is made. Letters outlined with a thin green line are currently part of a single word -- like the letter F in FOE. Letters outlined with a bold green line are currently part of two or more words -- like the A in SEA or AWL (spelled in reverse!)
Letters usually aren't where you want them, so Scootch those tiles!
In this example, Scootching the middle column up allows the letter T to wrap to the bottom of the column where you can select the word ZEST.
Click on the Letters you want to use to build your word. Since Scootch allows you to play words in reverse, you need to select the Letters in the proper order. As you select your Letters, you'll see the word being built below the grid and the points that it's worth!
Click on Submit Word to collect your points, or hit Clear to unselect all letters.
The word GALA will score 154 points, but beneath it says Three Word Combo. Words within words will get you points as well! In this example, the words GAL and ALA are both counted toward your score.
Every round also includes three purple Bonus letters that are worth 20 points plus the standard value of that letter! And, yes, you get those points for every word in a Combo that uses that tile.
When words are played, those Letters are replaced randomly with tiles from the bag. If no more letters are left in the bag, those spaces are left empty.
The game ends when you have no more Scootches, Letters, or words that can be created.
